The JV Lady Panthers opened up their season at home last night against the Red Devils of West Lafayette. The panthers got off to a slow start, getting down 11pts to open the game. The panthers settled in on both ends of the floor playing solid team defense and patient offense taking it to the half down twelve. The second half continued to be a defensive struggle, with 6 total points scored in the 3rd quarter. The panthers cranked up the pressure in the fourth with a full court press, but fell a little short with the final score of 43-27. Western was led on both ends of the floor by freshman Tessa Sanders with 10pts and 8 rebounds, and also got a very nice effort off the bench from fellow freshman Bre Shelby who add 9 points of her own.
