Saturday our boys swim team braved the snowpocalypse and traveled to Carmel to compete in the swimming sectional finals. Our team placed 4th behind Carmel, Noblesville, and Westfield. We avenged a regular season loss to Kokomo by finishing ahead of them by almost 20 points.
Nearly everyone that swam ended their season with a lifetime best swim. The highlight of the day was Matt Dukes 100 butterfly performance. In a heart stopping race, Matt captured the sectional championship of the 100 butterfly. Matt will advance to the state meet this Friday and Saturday at IUPUI. Matt also placed 2nd in the 50 freestyle missing an automatic state cut time by :00.04. However his swim is fast enough that he will most likely get called into the state meet as a top 32 swim.
Other outstanding performances:
Chris Kirkendall placed 6th in the diving.
Josh Everetts placed 8th both the 200 and 500 freestyle.
